Chief Instructor and Club Co-Founder - 6th Dan

Dave, along with Gordon, co-founded Chase Wado Kai and has since been Chief Instructor. He has studied numerous martial arts including Lau Gar Kung Fu, Sports Karate, Traditional Wado Kai Karate and Sikh Gatka. Along the way, he has trained with several notable instructors including Sifu Bernard Chong, Sensei Neil Poynton, Sensei Clayton Murrain, Ustaad Harjinder Singh, Sensei Barry Wilkinson and Sensei Kuniaki Sakagami.

Dave transfers his competitive knowledge, drawn from his own experiences, to his students, many of whom have gone on themselves to be European and World Champions. He won his first Kumite trophy in Sheffield 1978 as a Kung Fu student before placing 2nd in the British Kung Fu Championships 1979. He then went on to compete and triumph at numerous karate tournaments with EWSKA, including individual gold and silver at the 1997 WKO European Championships in Germany, and silver again two years later at the same Europeans. After competing at a number of European, World and Home Nation Championships, Dave turned his focus completely to coaching students, travelling with them around the country and world as they compete and win titles in his footsteps.
