Freya Robson
Senior Instructor - 3rd Dan
Freya has competed in both Kata and Kumite for several years across the UK and Ireland as a member of the Chase Wado Kai Squad, as well as at international level as a member of the EWKR National Squad in Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France and Portugal. In 2015 she got bronze at the FWE European Championships in U18 Kata. A year later at the Europeans in Switzerland she achieved bronze in U18 Kumite, silver in Senior Kata and was part of the English Female Senior Kata Team who became European Champions for the first time in EWKR's history. At the FWE European Championships 2017, she became U21 Kata Champion and was again part of the English Female Senior Kata Team who came away as European Champions for the second consecutive year. In the same year, she became the KUGB Student National Champion whilst at the University of Cambridge. At the Europeans in 2018 in Portugal, she achieved silver in both the Female Senior Kata and Female Senior Team Kata.
Her achievements in the sport were recognised at the Black Country Sports Awards in 2017 where she was given the Aspiring Talent Award.
When at Chase she coaches current and upcoming squad competitors, mainly focusing on Kata. At tournaments she coaches the less experienced members in both Kata and Kumite. During the Covid-19 lockdown, she co-coordinated the virtual training program with Reece.
